Why Choose A Star Driving School?
"Tim is a fantastic instructor. I had 8 sessions with him ahead of my driving test, and passed. I had held my learners licence for several years and hadn't previously felt comfortable behind the wheel. Under his guidance not only did my driving skills improve, particularly my clutch control and hill starts, but also my confidence grew hugely, particularly in dealing with challenging scenarios. He gave clear and calm instructions and helpful detailed notes at the end of each session with concise examples of what good driving looks like, as well as going back over errors I made and explaining how to better manage that skill. He has particularly helpful knowledge of the local area, including tricky junctions and traffic conditions that helped to make me feel prepared for anything my driving test might throw at me. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Tim for any learner drivers, or even for drivers wanting to gain more confidence on London roads."

"Just passed my driving test and want to say a big thank you to Tim! He really knows what he’s doing. Super professional and very involved in the learning process. He helped me with every aspect and shared loads of great tips and little tricks about the exam that really made a difference. Definitely recommend him."
Why Choose A Star Driving School
" I had a fantastic experience with Tim from drivinglessonsblackheath.com (A Star Driving School). He is an extremely experienced and patient instructor who really understands how to adapt lessons to the individual. Coming from several years of driving experience overseas — and with some bad habits picked up from motorcycle riding — Tim helped me identify and correct those habits in a clear and supportive way.
He significantly boosted my confidence and made sure I understood the key elements needed to pass the UK driving test. His knowledge of the test routes and expectations at a very challenging test centre was invaluable. Thanks to his guidance, I felt well prepared and confident on the day of my test. I highly recommend Tim to anyone looking for a professional, knowledgeable, and supportive driving instructor."

Why Choose A Star Driving School
"Tim helped me regain my driving confidence after failing a test with a previous instructor within 8 lessons. He also sent me notes of each lesson by email which helped me understand my faults and what to improve on. Tim was always very professional and even gave me tips on the drive back after I passed my test. Not a single complaint with A Star Driving, thank you Tim!"

Why Choose A Star Driving School
"As a Racing driver from the age of 6 learning to drive “properly” was an experience that I thought would be difficult due to the fact that I was used to speed and aggressive driving. I was correct, But having A Star Driving School teaching me was the best possible decision I could have made. Tim taught me everything I needed to know from defensive driving to mastering clutch control, understanding the best manoeuvres for bay parking and parallel parking and multiple tips and tricks from his many years of experience. 100% would recommend “A Star Driving School” to any friends or family that need a skilled and experienced driving instructor. Passed With 1 minor and that could have only been my fault as there were no issues with anything A Star Driving school had taught me."

Tim also helped me overcome my fear of driving after witnessing serious road collision in the past. Thanks to his patience, encouragement, and supportive teaching style, I was finally able to feel comfortable and confident behind the wheel again.
He is truly dedicated to his work and his students. Highly recommended!"

"Tim is an excellent driving instructor! He explained everything super clearly, so whenever I went wrong not only did I know what was wrong, but I knew why and how to make sure it doesn’t happen again. I really appreciate the notes he takes after the lesson and sends over via email - it made it really easy to look back on previous lessons and remember any bits I need to work on, reference photos and general driving tips and tricks. I would definitely recommend - thank you Tim for all your support and patience with me!!"

Why Choose A Star Driving School?
"I had a fantastic experience learning to drive with A Star Driving School. Tim was not only patient and professional but also had a great way of explaining things clearly and calmly, which really helped boost my confidence on the road.
One of the most helpful aspects of the lessons was that after each session, he would write detailed notes on what we covered, areas to improve on, and tips tailored to my driving. These notes were incredibly useful in helping me reflect on each lesson and track my progress. It’s clear that he genuinely cares about his students becoming safe and confident drivers.
Tim has helped me pass my test first time. I highly recommend A Star Driving School to anyone looking to learn with a supportive instructor."

Why Choose A Star Driving School?
"Learning with Tim meant I passed my driving exam first time in Sidcup with two minors.
Tim is very patient and not only taught me how to drive to pass the exam but how to drive with confidence which was really important to me as a naturally nervous driver.
At the end of every lesson Tim sent detailed bespoke notes which were very helpful to review in between lessons, with diagrams where needed.
Tim was also able to help me find test swaps for a more convenient date when needed.
Overall it has been a pleasure learning with Tim and I highly recommend him."

Why Choose A Star Driving School?
"I cannot recommend Tim highly enough! He is an absolutely amazing driving instructor—so kind, patient, and supportive. Even during moments when I had a few wobbles, Tim was always calm and encouraging, which really helped to build my confidence.
One thing I found particularly helpful was the detailed end-of-lesson notes he sent, which were invaluable for reviewing and consolidating what I’d learned. As someone with dyslexia, I really appreciated Tim’s willingness to adapt his teaching style to suit my needs. He was always kind enough to check my understanding and never made me feel uncomfortable about asking questions—even the ones I thought might be silly!
Tim is a Blackheath local and knows all the various test routes and learner-friendly roads around this part of London. You’ll be in safe hands!
If you’re looking for a local, independent, and kind instructor who truly cares and is dedicated to your success, Tim is the one!"

Why I Chose A Star Driving School
"Tim has been such an amazing driving instructor. Very patient from the start, he's always been very thorough and meticulous in all the information and advice that he shares both during lessons and beyond. Tim sends notes after every lesson that are really helpful to keep track of the areas you need to work on. He suggested a bit of a more intensive schedule the last two weeks leading to my driving test and it's been amazingly helpful. Doing the mock test and then having a couple of more sessions to refine my driving skills really put me at ease for the test despite how nervous I initially was.
If you're looking for an experienced and highly skilled instructor, Tim is your guy. He's able to bring you to great driving standards to feel confident driving around London safely.
I am very grateful and so happy to say that I passed first time two days ago and I'm so over the moon. I'm 37 and have been putting this off for so many years but Tim made the whole learning journey so much enjoyable and easier than I thought it would be. Now I am FINALLY able to drive my self converted campervan and I couldn't be happier about this new freedom he allowed me to conquer!
Thank you ever so much Tim! I will miss you!"

"Amazing instructor. (Tim) is a great teacher and is very understanding. Passed my practical test and with only 2 minor faults on my first driving test. which is an accurate display of how good Tim is at his job. Additionally, he would take notes of the lesson and send them to me soon after because of this, I was able to know where I went wrong and then focus on the issue and improve overall. Would recommend!"

"I just passed my driving exam and I am the happiest man! Driving freedom is priceless. Thank you Tim for making this venture smooth for me. Tim is incredibly patient and makes sure that you are confident in any situation, no matter how difficult and challenging the traffic conditions are. He is not just a skilled, professional's teacher, but also a kind and understanding person that very easily adapts the learning pace for learner needs. I would definitely highly recommend A Star Driving Instructor to anyone who wants to enjoy in driving lessons and become a good driver."
Why I Chose A Star Driving School
"Very happy to recommend Tim. He’s was very meticulous with his instruction, often taking the trouble to explain road signs, driving rules and manoeuvres through diagrams, and simulations. He also sent across very detailed notes at the end of each class, complete with diagrams, and these were a huge help when it came to brushing up before the test. As an experienced driver overseas, I did need to adapt to UK driving rules and Tim was patient through out this process. Happy to have cleared the practical driving test on my first attempt."

"I was a fairly nervous first-time driver, but Tim let me learn at my own pace while also encouraging me to try the next thing I needed to get comfortable with. He was always on time for our lessons, and helped a lot by sending diagrams, pictures or guides to things I could brush up on at home. I'm pleased to say I recently passed my driving test with his help - thanks Tim!"

Why I Chose A Star Driving School
"Tim is a very experienced driving instructor and this was evident in his secure methods, detailed teaching and was mostly very reliable. Given the post covid back log of driving test availability and waiting times I had to book a test in another area. Tim had to be accommodating to this and continued lessons in my personal car which I used for the test - I was very appreciative of this as it wasn’t the norm for instructors to have to do this, many thanks!"

"Tim was absolutely amazing at helping me to pass my driving test. When I started, I was very nervous, having had a bad experience with a different driving school. He is very thorough and supportive and helped me with not only the practical but also the theory exam, providing other sources of study outside of our lessons. With his help, I passed with only 2 minors and feel so much more confident at the idea of driving. I would wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone looking for lessons in the area!"

"I decided to change my driving instructor after I failed twice at the exam last year to experience a different way of teaching. I went with Tim based on his great Google reviews.
Today, after 5 lessons with him, I passed the test. I wish I had gone with him in the first place. Tim's teaching method is outstanding. He is very thorough and detailed in his explanation. he takes extensive notes that we got to discuss about at the end of each lesson which makes it easy to focus on things that need improvement. You can tell straight away that he is highly experienced and takes his job very seriously. I can't recommend him enough!
Thank you very much Tim. I am grateful for your support!"

"Tim was an excellent instructor to me during the summer of 2023. I was an experienced driver in my home country and Tim assessed what I needed to revise and work on in order to pass my UK test. After working with him, I passed on my first attempt, which was a huge relief. I would recommend him wholeheartedly - his technical knowledge of the rules and testing protocols is perfect, and he will tailor his instruction to your needs. Best of luck to all who are preparing for the UK road test. Cheers"

Why I Chose A Star Driving School
Tim is an amazing instructor! His method is very accommodating for first time drivers and has resulted in me passing my test first go. My experience has been fantastic from start to finish - I very quickly felt at ease both driving and asking any questions as he made it clear he was there to support me. I cannot recommend enough!
Elena Storry of Lee, London SE12
"Tim was an excellent instructor! I came to him having failed a test in my teens about a decade previously, so I hadn’t driven for some time. All aspects of driving were practised and discussed thoroughly, to the point that I felt very well-prepared when it came to the test itself. It was always a pleasure to chat with him on our lessons, but Tim never missed anything whilst we were doing so: he was always taking care to evaluate my driving and he would give clear and useful advice whenever it was needed. His knowledge of the test area as well as on all aspects of driving was comprehensive, and he was able to answer all of my questions over our time together. A testament to Tim’s teaching was the test day itself: due to unexpected standstill traffic around the centre, we almost missed the booking even though we had left with plenty of time. Despite feeling the pressure from getting to the centre in time on top of the usual test nerves, I was still able to drive effectively and pass. I would highly recommend Tim to anyone in need of an instructor: his teaching doesn’t just prepare you for the test, but for life after you’ve passed. Thank you Tim!"
"I decided to choose Tim as a driving instructor after reading so many positive comments. It was important for me to feel comfortable driving on busy London streets, but also to avoid failing especially because nowadays it is hard to book an exam due to backlog. I also had to wait for couple of months to begin, but it was worth it.
Tim is systematic and thorough -he is writing down everything after the lesson (mainly things that need to be improved and he'll go through that again and explain it using various methods, even a toy car!). He will do a mock exam (which is probably harder to pass 🙂 ) and after that focus on weakest areas. On the exam day I avoided making the same mistakes.
Tim is very professional and pleasant and I enjoyed learning from him.
Thank you once again Tim for helping me pass on my first attempt! Wish you all the best!"
"Tim was a brilliant instructor and I would highly recommend him. Not only did he help me to pass my test first time, but I greatly enjoyed all my lessons with him. He clearly explained everything, was patient, and he was able to make me confident in my driving. Tim has taught me and my brother and we both found him amazing. It was a pleasure to be taught by Tim and I cannot recommend him enough."
"I had put off learning to drive for years, then decided in early Feb 2020 “this will be a a good time to start”. It turned out that, in fact; it was a terrible time. But at least I had found a fantastic teacher as I finally passed on my second attempt early Feb 2022! This isn’t to say that I needed two years to learn, or that Tim needed two years to teach me. I’m sure if Tim had any power over covid 19 he would have exercised this power as effectively as he has instilled valuable life long driving skills upon me. I can attest to this as a lot of our lessons were pre pandemic. One failed test, a few lockdowns and a gigantic waiting list later; I feared I would’ve lost all the progress I’d made. But thankfully even with so much time away from the wheel, when we got back to refresher lessons for my second attempt; it was apparent Tim’s method had done its magic. I can drive! Confidently! I highly recommend anyone to book lessons with Tim. He’s patient, clear and thorough. You won’t regret it and you’ll be a better driver for it too. Thanks so much Tim!"
"Tim is a fantastic instructor who helped me to pass my test first time. He is very knowledgable about driving, and is clear and patient in his explanations. He doesn't just teach you how to pass the test, he teaches you how to drive well for life!"
"I can't recommend Tim highly enough for anyone looking for lessons, whether it be as a complete novice or someone who has just relocated to the UK - professional and thorough yet clear and polite. As an 'older' learner driver working full time, Tim did his absolute best to accommodate my inconsistent diary which made learning much more feasible for myself. I received a cancellation test slot on 21st December for CHRISTMAS EVE, and Tim still very kindly squeezed in some additional lessons and the test. Very happy to say I passed with 2 minors! Tim not only teaches you to pass your test, but teaches you to be a good driver for once the test is passed. A great instructor as well as a great bloke! Cannot say thank you enough. All the best."
